Catholic Medical Center, a Manchester, New Hampshire-based hospital and part of HCA Healthcare, has announced close to $100 million in capital improvements, covering infrastructure upgrades, equipment purchases and facility renovations.
The projects represent one of the largest investments in the hospital’s history and are already underway.
Central to the plan is a $43.4 million renovation of CMC’s Central Energy Plant. The overhaul is expected to modernize the hospital’s heating, cooling and power systems, addressing aging infrastructure that staff had worked to extend for years. Once complete, the system is expected to support future expansion and improve overall reliability.

The hospital also acquired the lease for a nearby property at 122 McGregor Street, formerly a Rite Aid. While the transaction is still in the due diligence phase, the site is already being used for additional emergency department parking. CMC said it is evaluating longer-term plans for expanding clinical services on the site.
Another $46.5 million will go toward a range of clinical and nonclinical facility updates. These include upgrades to operating rooms, imaging and sterile processing equipment, and infrastructure at medical office buildings. Several patient-facing areas are being renovated, including nursing units, public spaces and dining facilities. A new hybrid OR and interventional radiology suite are also part of the project list.
The investment also includes a previously announced $2.7 million renovation of the hospital’s electrophysiology lab. The updated lab will feature new technology for diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias and is slated to open by year-end.

Most of the work is scheduled to be completed over the next two years.
