NTPC Ltd, India’s largest power generation company, has taken a significant step towards enhancing healthcare infrastructure and supporting patient welfare by signing an agreement with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The agreement, signed on 13th February 2024, paves the way for the establishment of a “Patient-Attendant Waiting Facility/Shelter” within the AIIMS campus, under NTPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, with an estimated cost of Rs. 8 crores.
The proposed facility is designed to accommodate approximately 1,000 patients and their attendants daily, operating round-the-clock. It will feature separate, need-based spaces for men, women, and the physically challenged, equipped with CCTVs, drinking water facilities, a centralized pantry hall, and more. This essential facility aims to provide security, personal safety, protection from weather elements, and stress relief for patients and their escorts, while ensuring privacy and safety.
The agreement was signed by Dr. M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS New Delhi, and Shri Upendra Mishra, DGM (CSR), CC, representing NTPC, in the presence of Shri Neeraj Kapoor, GM (CSR/R&R/LA) of NTPC, senior doctors from AIIMS, New Delhi, and other staff.
