The Chronic Illness Management Program at Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick was recently named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s inaugural list of 36 hospitals and health systems with great diabetes and endocrinology programs.
The facility joins programs from around the U.S. that are lauded for their dedication to restoring emotional and physical balance to patients while advancing research and discovery within the field.
Becker’s recognized programs that provide diagnoses, education, medication, cutting-edge technology and clinical research to improve the lives of patients suffering from endocrine disorders like diabetes, thyroid diseases, metabolic disorders and more.
The Chronic Illness Management Program at Children’s Specialized Hospital offers a unique, multidisciplinary, four-week diabetes management program for children and adolescents. The program provides intensive medical care, psychotherapy, nutrition education, diabetes education, physical and occupational therapy, recreation therapy and child life services, with psychiatric consulting and testing available if needed.

The CIMP is strengthening its referral pipeline and has seen increased interest from patients from several states, as well as from other institutions who wish to collaborate. Additionally, the program’s outpatient clinic recently received recognition from the American Diabetes Association through its Education Recognition Program for its commitment to providing value-based interventions such as diabetes self-management education and support, maximizing corresponding outcomes and enhancing the patient experience.
